Team

The Science Communication Conference is organised by a group of motivated students every year. Read all about the 2025 team below!

This year’s conference is organized and hosted by just two dedicated students, showcasing their effort and commitment to bringing this event to life. From left to right, here you can read all about the iconic duo of this year’s conference:

Hi all! My name is Philine, and I’m a passionate student in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in cell biology and advanced microscopy. I love diving into the complexities of science and find great joy in breaking down complex concepts into engaging, accessible stories for diverse audiences. What truly energizes me is sparking excitement about science whether it’s chatting with friends, familiy, or tutoring students. So, it’s not suprising that I really enjoyed giving a masterclass on fluorescence microscopy to high school students! These experiences helped me realize my passion lies in serving a bridge between science and society, making science not only understandable but also inspiring for everyone. Following this calling, I decided to step away from the microscope and pursue a Major in Science Communication at the VU University of Amsterdam. This path allows me to combine my deep interest in biomedical knowledge with my desire to make science relatable and exciting. Beyond science, I enjoy expressing my creativity through painting and crocheting at home.

I’m also thrilled to connect with fellow science enthusiasts who share a love for both science and social interaction. Let’s get social at the conference!

Hi, I’m Julian! I’m 24 years old and currently pursuing a Major in Science Communication at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. With a background in Biology and Biomedical Sciences, I initially thought my future was in the lab. However, I realized that my true passion lies at the intersection of science and society. I’ve always been deeply interested in complex societal issues, particularly those related to human and animal rights, as well as democratizing spaces in our society. The Science Communication program at the VU has shown me how I can combine my love for science with my desire to create meaningful change. My goal is to work in science communication, where I can empower people through accessible and engaging science, while amplifying the voices of marginalized communities in public debates. I believe science should be a tool for inclusivity and progress, and I’m excited to contribute to that vision. In my spare time I like to do some activism, meeting up with friends, play (video) games, explore/listen to music and discover new vegan cafes and restaurants! I’m looking forward to connecting with you at the conference. Let’s chat about how we can make science more impactful and equitable for everyone!

Special thanks to Amy Moses to help us organising the conference!
